"I WAS BITTEN BY A DOG": NELLY KORDA WITHDRAWS FROM LET EVENT FOLLOWING A BIZARRE INCIDENT

Nelly Korda was scheduled to defend her title at the Ladies European Tour's (LET) Aramco Team Series London, to be played July 3-5 at the Centurion Club in London. However, an unfortunate incident has ruled her out from the tournament.

In a recent Instagram Story, Nelly Korda revealed that she'll be unable to compete in the Aramco Team Series London due to a dog bite she suffered while in Seattle a few days prior.

This was the message posted by Nelly Korda on her Instagram story:

"I regret to announce that I must withdraw from next week's Ladies European Tour tournament in London. On Saturday in Seattle, I was bitten by a dog and need time to receive treatment and recover fully."
"I apologize to the LET, the sponsors, and my fans for my absence. Thank you for your understanding, and I look forward to returning to the course soon."

Korda won the individual event of the 2023 Aramco Team Series in London with a score of 11 under, four strokes ahead of Charley Hull. This was Korda's only title during the entire 2023 season. Overall, Korda has three titles on the LET, as she has also won the 2019 Open de France in addition to her two Aramco Team Series wins (2022 and 2023).

The Aramco Team Series is a series of events played around the world. The event is sponsored by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) of Saudi Arabia and follows a two-part format: individual and team.

The individual event is played in the conventional format (Stroke Play). The team format includes 26 foursomes composed of three professionals and one amateur that are defined by a draw.

A look at Nelly Korda's season

The Aramco Team Series in London is the second event that Nelly Korda has withdrawn from during the season. The previous event was the JM Eagle LA Championship, from which she withdrew after winning the Chevron Championship, her fifth consecutive win of the season.

Korda began her LPGA Tour season by playing in the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions, where she finished T16. A week later, she played the LPGA Drive On Championship at her home course in Bradenton, Florida, where she defeated Lydia Ko in a playoff to secure her first win of the season. Korda then took seven weeks off to spend time with her family.

She returned at the FIR HILLS SERI PAK Championship, where she earned her second consecutive victory of the year. Korda continued to reel off back-to-back victories over the next three tournaments. Her victories included the Ford Championship, the T-Mobile Match Play and the Chevron Championship, Korda's first major of the season and second major title of her career.

Korda's next start was the Cognizant Founders Cup, where she finished T7. A week later, the world number one won her sixth title of the season at the Mizuho Americas OPen.

However, Korda's year has taken a sudden turn as she has missed the cut in her three most recent starts, which include two majors. It happened at the US Women's Open, the Meijer LPGA Classic and the KPMG PGA Women's Championship.
