RED SOX NEWS & LINKS: ALL-STAR NODS FOR TANNER HOUCK, JARREN DURAN?

Welcome back, Cam Booser. After a short demotion to Worcester, the reliever was back in the Red Sox clubhouse for yesterday’s series finale against the Miami Marlins. Unless someone is placed on the IL, though. Booser is not actually eligible to rejoin the 26-man roster until Tuesday. I don’t know about you, but I take that to mean that someone will be placed on the IL, though nothing has been announced. (Chris Cotillo, MassLive)

People have been wondering for a while now whether Brayan Bello might be subject to an IL stint of the phantom variety in an attempt to reset his ugly 2024 season. Instead, the Sox pushed his start back and focused on rebuilding his arsenal by bringing a four-seam fastball into the mix. It paid off against the Marlins. (Chris Cotillo, MassLive)

Speaking of needed a reset on 2024, no Sox hitter has needed one more than Masataka Yoshida. Things are looking a lot better for him — and the Red Sox lineup — since he returned from the IL. (Tim Crowley, NESN)

Tanner Houck doesn’t need to reset anything in 2024, but he does need to bounce back from his first poor start of the season. It could be a big weekend for him, as he opens up the series against the Yankees tonight and then likely will be named an American League All-Star on Sunday. (Peter Abraham, Boston Globe)

Jarren Duran should also get an All-Star nod this weekend. But that’s not the only official notice that MLB could be sending his way — he’s at risk of a sartorial fine, one that he’ll be happy to pay. (Chris Cotillo, MassLive)

Jarren Duran certainly qualifies as a prospect development success for the Sox. So who’s next? As much fun as it would be to see a promotion of the Big Three soon, Sox player development director Brian Abraham thinks there’s still some things for Marcelo Mayer in particular to work on at the AA level. (Jen McCarthy, The Athletic)

As for the rest of the farm, FanGraphs has updated it’s list of the 47 best Red Sox prospects, calling the system the “deepest in all of baesball, and one of the best...” (Eric Longerhagen, FanGraphs)
