DENVER BRONCOS LINEBACKER MAKES BOLD STATEMENT ABOUT TEAM'S FORMER QB

Denver Broncos linebacker Jonas Griffith will be in the mix to claim one of the team's starting inside linebacker spots before the 2024 season kicks off.

Griffith, who was re-signed by the team as soon as the offseason was here, is looking forward to when the Broncos host the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2. While appearing on Denver Sports 104.3 The Fan earlier this week, he had the following to say:

While the best part of that clip might be the quip made by former Broncos running back Phillip Lindsay, it's noteworthy that Griffith didn't give the usual "we look at them like any other opponent" line when referring to the Steelers and talking about how he wants to intercept a pass thrown by former Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson.

Jonas Griffith aims to "pick off" Russell Wilson

A lot of things need to happen for that to even have a chance of taking place. First, Griffith would likely have to beat out Cody Barton and perhaps even Levelle Bailey to win the starting inside linebacker spot next to Alex Singleton.

In Pittsburgh, Wilson might have to fend off Justin Fields for the team's QB1 spot. If all of that happens, then Wilson and Griffith could be on the field for a significant amount of plays together in Week 2.

Griffith also has just one career interception and missed the entire 2023 season after tearing his ACL. The stars would need to align for him to get an interception on Wilson, but it would bring some great headlines if it happened.
