LIONS' DAN CAMPBELL TAKES BLAME FOR FIELD GOAL MISCUE AT END OF FIRST HALF

The Detroit Lions had an opportunity for points at the end of the first half of the Week 2 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but some confusion led to the Lions coming away with nothing.

Trailing 13-6 on the final drive of the first half, the Lions got themselves in field goal range in the closing seconds. With the clock running, Detroit needed to spike the ball to stop the clock but the field goal unit ran on the field, which led to a penalty and a 10-second run off that ended the Lions' hopes of grabbing a much-needed three points.

When asked about the play at halftime, head coach Dan Campbell showed exactly why his players love him, as he took full responsibility for the lapse.

"100% on the head coach there," Campbell said, per The Detroit News' Nolan Bianchi. "Totally screwed my team. That is mine... I made a decision that I shouldn't have made, and our team is gonna have to overcome it. That's the bottom line."

As if you needed more evidence for why Lions players love their head coach. He isn't afraid to take accountability and that's certainly an admirable trait.

The Lions' offense was able to move the ball in the first half, but the unit simply could not finish drives. In what is a very close game, that miscue in the second quarter could end up proving to be costly.
