PATRICK MAHOMES SHARES ADORABLE PICTURE OF DAD HOLDING HIM AS A BABY

Patrick Mahomes made a name as one of the best quarterbacks ever to play the game of football, but his first love was apparently a different sport.

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback took to social media to re-share a picture of his father, Patrick Mahomes Sr., holding Patrick when he was a baby. The elder Mahomes was a relief pitcher for the Minnesota Twins at the time, wearing his uniform on the field while holding baby Patrick decked out in his own Twins uniform.

Mahomes Sr. played the first five seasons of his MLB career with the Twins, starting in 1992. He then bounced around the league after Patrick was born in 1995, playing for the Boston Red Sox and reaching the World Series with the New York Mets in 2000.

While the younger Mahomes inherited his dad's athletic prowess, he also got some of the more unfortunate characteristics as well. Patrick Mahomes Sr. joked that the Chiefs quarterback inherited his "dad bod," but also his strong work ethic.

“Patrick works really hard, he’s at the gym all the time, he works out three times a week,” said on CNN This Morning in February. “He’s unfortunate, he got that from me too, that’s in his DNA.

“We just don’t get the muscles like DK Metcalf and some of the guys who are built like rocks and statues. We’ve just got this natural ‘dad bod’ and, hey, we’re representing.”
