SIMONE BILES EARNS STANDING OVATION FOR JAW-DROPPING VAULT AT OLYMPIC TRIALS

Simone Biles once again proved she's the best in the world during the first night of the U.S. Olympic Gymnastics Trials on June 28.

Unsurprisingly, Biles finished the evening in first place with a 2.5 lead over Jordan Chiles. A huge reason she has such a dominant lead is because of her vault, the Yurchenko double-pike.

While Biles took a step back during the landing, she earned the 15.975, the highest score of the night, which included a 9.75 for execution.

Biles was expected to do this vault at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, however, she didn't get a chance to perform it. The 27-year-old ultimately withdrew from competition after suffering from "the twisties."

The nine-time national champion first performed this vault at the 2021 GK Classic, and it was thus dubbed the Biles II on Vault. During the vault, she does two backflips with straight legs after doing a round-off back handspring onto the spring board.

Of course, that wasn't the only routine Biles wowed with at the U.S Olympic Trials on Friday night. Her floor routine to Taylor Swift's "Are You Ready For It?" brought the house down.
