JOHN MCENROE 'DISAPPOINTED' AFTER ANDY MURRAY MAKES ADMISSION TO NICK KYRGIOS

John McEnroe quipped that he was "disappointed" after Andy Murray suggested that the American was "crazier" than Nick Kyrgios. The friendly banter took place on camera at Wimbledon following Murray's exit from the doubles tournament on Thursday.

Murray, along with his brother Jamie, fell in straight sets to Aussie pair Rinky Hijikata and John Peers. Despite this setback, 37-year-old Murray seemed upbeat and humorously enquired if McEnroe could confirm whether Kyrgios - who has been providing analysis at SW19 this week - had been "behaving himself".

Kyrgios, 29, joined in the fun by deftly shifting the question to McEnroe, 65. "Yeah he [McEnroe] has been good," which provoked the elder tennis legend to query: "Do you mean him or me? ".

Before Murray, a two-time Wimbledon winner, could respond, Kyrgios declared: "He's actually, you're crazier than I am hands down."

At this juncture, McEnroe sought to get Murray's view on the lighthearted comparison but wasn't too pleased with the answer.

"I'd probably [say McEnroe was crazier]," shot back Murray, who enjoys a close friendship with Kyrgios. "I maybe know him [Kyrgios] a bit better off the court so, I've obviously seen both of you on it and both of you are obviously up there on the crazy spectrum on the court but off it yeah.."

His sentence was cut short by Kyrgios, who interjected with: "I've got time to make that up though by the time I get to your age." McEnroe responded with: "Man, that's a little disappointing but it's honest."

Both McEnroe and Kyrgios are well-known for their fiery on-court demeanors. McEnroe, notorious for his temper during his prime, is forever remembered for his infamous 'you cannot be serious' outburst at Wimbledon in 1981.

Kyrgios, on the other hand, has built a career as a maverick, both on and off the court. His aggressive playing style, combined with his quick temper and flamboyant behavior, have made him one of the most watched players in contemporary tennis.

Earlier this month, Kyrgios boldly claimed on Piers Morgan Uncensored that he would easily defeat McEnroe if they were to face each other in their respective primes. "It'd be an easy walk for me. I think so... I'm serving pretty big," the Australian stated.

"I mean, it's a different era... I mean, [Roger] Federer, [Rafael] Nadal and Novak [Djokovic] have struggled. So, I don't know how McEnroe is going to go against returning my serve."

"He's lucky that he didn't play in this day and age because I don't know how that would have gone for the big fella. He would have probably lashed out a little bit too much on people on social media! ".
